Eligible customers in bushfire affected areas may have the option to have their premiums waived for up to six months depending on their provider.

Waivers may be available to eligible holders of the following types of insurance:

  • Health insurance;
  • Life insurance;
  • Total and Permanent Disability insurance;
  • Trauma insurance;
  • Income protection; and/or
  • Business expenses insurance.

Insurance can be held directly or through superannuation.

Insurance providers offering relief include, but are not limited to AHM, AIA, AMP, Asgard, BT, BUPA, CommInsure, GIO, Medibank, MLC, OnePath and Zurich.

Additionally, a number of insurers have offered to replace lost policy documents without evidence or cost to the client.

Access to the relief is only available until the end of February 2020 for some providers so anyone impacted by the recent bushfires should contact their insurance provider to review their eligibility as soon as possible.
